I'm taking part in this...http://www.zapcarbon.com/ as part of 'Users of the Bridge' team. We're hoping to beat the council, and the environmental network, oh and sea space (whoever they are?). Very exciting, and frankly anything I can do to save money - oh and of course the environment is a bonus. One of our main problems is probably ourselves though - the usuals; leaving things on standby ('specially the telly which despite being quite new really does not have an off button and the plug is hidden at the back of a cupboard), and of course leaving lights on.
So let's see if we can get better...and Zap Carbon (what does that actually mean anyway?).

We bought a few 'standby' plug sockets recently.
All the tv/dvd/freeview/music system plugs go into one in the lounge, and all the computer gubbins, printers, monitor etc go into one in the study.
Then everything switches off standby automatically.
Great idea and really easy to use.
We're supposed to have a normal week this week then do reducing. Maybe they will give us a plug for free...they do sound good. If it is automatic then it solves the plug in hard to reach cupboard issue which puts me off turning it all off. There may have been a slug in the cupboard too.
I turn the t.v., computer and everything I can off completely, but not the VCR (yes we still have one!) or Freeview box as then you have to reset it every time.
